Deacon Ministry
Qualifications
Qualifications for Deacon are set forth in Acts 6:1-7 and 1Timothy 3:8-13.
Confirmation/Appointment
The election of deacons will occur at the spring general membership meeting and, if required, at other times of the year as might be deemed necessary by the Senior Pastor and the Church Leadership Team.
Term of Service
Once confirmed by the congregation by three-fourths majority vote, a deacon shall serve a three year term unless shorten to facilitate an even rotation. At the completion of his term of service, he may be reconfirmed by the congregation by the process specified in our Church Bylaws.
Duties of a Deacon
The duties of the Deacon Body are to:
1. Zealously guard the unity and spiritual well-being of the church in the bonds of peace.
2. Minister to orphans, widows, shut-ins and those with other special needs.
3. Assist in the general visitation ministry of the church; including hospital visits, benevolence, bereavement, membership, and care visits.
4. Assist in the evangelistic outreach of the church.
5. Assist in the preparation and administration of the ordinances: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
6. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Pastor and the Pastoral Leadership Team.
